Prof. Rahul Jain, Rahul Jain, Ph. D., present Professor, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, NIPER has taken the charge of DEAN, NIPER replacing the previous dean Prof. P.V. Bharatam.Prof. Rahul Jain is a Doctor of Philosophy (Organic Chemistry), from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India (1991). Before joining NIPER in 1997, he has been Assistant Professor, at the Peptide Research Laboratories, Department of Medicine, Tulane University Medical Center, New Orleans, USA; Fogarty International Visiting Fellow, Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, NIDDK, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA; and Robert A. Welch Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, USA.
His area of interest are Synthesis and mechanistic study on ultra short neuro- and anti-microbial peptides; C-H and C-N activation strategies on natural and unnatural amino acids; synthesis of unnatural amino acids; backbone modification of peptides by C-H and C-N activation strategies; environment friendly peptide synthesis methodologies; new structural classes of anti-plasmodial and anti-tuberculosis agents.He has published more than 130 research papers in international journals, 20 Patents (IN, EU, US), and delivered 101 Invited Talks and Research Presentations. He is mentoring/ mentored 96 Masters and 18 Ph. Research scholars till today. He is having 20 collaborations projects itself in India, US, Germany with Grants of Rupees ~90 millions.He has also been Associate Dean of Academics Affairs of NIPER, respectively in year 2016-2017. Other than all this, he In-charge, Central Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL) and placement committee, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, S. A. S. Nagar.
