The massive participation in the first phase of Panchayat polls vindicates BJP’s victory, which strongly pleaded for holding these elections despite various odds”, stated Former Minister and Legislator, Chander Prakash Ganga.The party’s outreach has increased manifold, even in the Kashmir valley where BJP flattering high and speaks victory of democracy over undemocratic machinations of elements inimical to peace, maintained the MLA.Ganga, while addressing a huge public gathering at Kartholi Lower Panchayat, Bari Brahamana, said that BJP government took a bold decision of holding panchayat elections with an idea to empower people at the grass roots level and enable them to take decision on schemes to be taken up as per local priorities.Asserting that Modi government is determined towards galvanizing PRIs as effective instruments of social and economic change in rural areas, the MLA expressed optimism that the new Panchayat representatives would adopt inclusive development strategies to give further impetus to working of rural local bodies. He exhorted upon the people to choose only a devoted and genuine representative who would have the ability and aptitude of serving them for a better tomorrow. “A wrong representative can mar the whole objective of establishing ground level institutions thus depriving the people of their rights”, he maintained.
The MLA said that in villages, people are dependent on their gram panchayats and after the win the activities of PRIs would come as an added benefit for us for future elections. “The twin objective of PRIs is to ensure local economic development and social justice and we are committed towards achieving this goal”, he added. Ganga hoped that the representatives who would emerge as winners in these crucial polls would ensure effective implementation of programmes and policies of BJP, a party whole heartedly devoted towards the cause of poor and under privelged. “These leaders of local government would be instrumental in rural reconstruction and development”, he asserted.
