The 48th Martyrdom Day of Captain Bahadur Singh (Veer Chakkra posthumously) who laid down his life for the nation during Indo-Pak war on December 15 in 1971 in Rajasthan was observed in his native village Bhambo Chack near border in Ramgarh area of district Samba today. The Former Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga was chief guest on the occasion who paid floral tribute to Shaheed captain Bahadur Singh. Captain Bahadur Singh served in 10 Sikh Li Regiment of Indian Army. During 1971 war, he attacked the enemy army in Cactus Lilli Operation in Badmer, Rajasthan and inflicted heavy loss to them. In this operation he also sacrificed his life for integrity of the nation. While addressing the gathering, the Former Minister ganga said that the people of Jammu have a history of serving the nation and sacrificing their lives for the motherland. He said Shaheed Captain Bahadur Singh was a brave son of the soil and he scarified his life while serving the motherland. Paying homage to the martyr, the FM ganga saluted him for his bravery and supreme sacrifices and exhorted upon the youth to follow his footsteps with a pledge to safeguard the honor of the nation. The Former Minister appealed the youth to put in hard work in their respective fields and remain away from social evils to achieve desired goals, adding that a proactive approach and public participation is vital for a prosperous society and nation. A large number of the people of the area attended the function and paid tributes to martyr. The Martyr’s Day was organised under the banner of “Shaheed Captain Bahadur Singh Smarak Samiti” Bhambo Chack. Every year on Martyr’s Day function, the meritorious students of zone Ramgarh are being honoured by Samiti. This time also the Former Minister handed over the trophies to the students of class 8th, 10th and 12th.
