The candidates who had applied for various posts in the education department through services selection board (SSB) staged a protest here on Saturday demanding the release of the selection list.Reports reaching GNS said that dozens of candidates who had applied for the post of teachers in the education department last year, assembled at the Press Colony here this morning and staged a demonstration. Carrying placards, the candidates protested the delay in release of the selection list by the SSB.The protesters said that last year SSB issued a notification for filling up 2100 posts of teachers in the education department on the fast track basis.

The posts, they said were advertised by Chairman SSB Simranjeet Singh in December 2017.The protesters said that the district wise examinations for the posts were held in the months of April and May and the provisional list of candidates was released in June 2017. “One year has passed but the selection list has not been issued till now. We went from pillar to post to ask the officials about the status but no one paid a heed to our pleas,” Abdul Rashid Bhat, a protester told this news agency.“We left our jobs in other parts of India hoping that SSB will issue list and that we will join our duties but that’s not to be,” he added. The protesting candidates urged the Governor and the SSB authorities to release the selection list at the earliest so that their career doesn’t suffer more.
