Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over 27th Annual Conference of Himachal Pradesh Orthopaedics Association held on Saturday in Mandi. On the occasion Chief Minister said that the orthopaedic specialists were doing commendable job in providing better medical facilities to the affluent people. He said that in a hilly state, like Himachal Pradesh, where the chances of accidents were high, the role of orthopaedic specialist becomes very important.The Chief Minister said that the state government was diligent to set up more trauma centres, in order to provide immediate medical assistance to the people in the event of accidents. Reiterating the commitment to provide good health services to the people at their doorstep, he said that the state government was strengthening the health institutions to provide qualitative health services in the state. In the current financial year a provision of Rs. 2,302 crore was made for the health sector.
Jai Ram Thakur said that in the government sector six medical colleges, including IGMC Shimla, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College Tanda, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Medical College Nahan, Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College Mandi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College Chamba and Dr. Radha Krishnan Medical College Hamirpur, were functional in order to strengthen the health services in the state.On the Occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Singh Parmar said that such conferences were very essential to deliver qualitative services in future. He said that the brainstorming sessions in the conference would lead to positive and unexpected results. He said that the latest technology in the field of orthopaedics is now available in state as well, which would benefit the people.Chairman of Himachal Chapter Dr. Mukund Lal welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and provided detailed information about the work done by the association.Irrigation and Public Health Minister Mahendra Singh, MLA Nachan Vinod Kumar, MLA Karsog Hira Lal, MLA Sarakghat Col.
