The new building of State-of-the-art Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), that is catering to the skill development of rural population of the district, was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu near Ayali Khurd village of the district today.While speaking on the occasion, Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu said that it would play a proactive role in orienting the unemployed rural youth towards entrepreneurship, imparting the required training in various courses and providing credit linkage, with an attempt to enable them to set up their own ventures towards gainful self employment.

He said that this is a residential centre, with hostel facilities for both boys and girls, and would cater to about 400 youth every year. It is developed and run in association with the lead bank of the district, i.e. Punjab and Sind Bank, Ludhiana. He said that in this institute, boys/men and girls/women aged between 18-45 can get themselves trained in making pickles, jams, marmalade along with mobile repair without any fee. He said that the students would be given free hostel facility along with food and free travel facility.

Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that this new building has been constructed with a cost of around Rs 1.5 crore, for which Rs 1 crore has been provided by the Government of India and the remaining by Lead Bank- Punjab and Sind Bank. The new residential training institute is ready and equipped, and 2 batches will be starting from today, i.e. from August 27, 2018.ADC (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that the land was identified near Ayali Khurd village and lease deed was executed in the year 2010. The construction started after that at a total approx. cost of Rs 1.5 crore. Mr Vijay Kumar, Director, RSETI, Ludhiana, said that the interim batches are being run from a temporary location and 3,133 candidates have been trained till now. However, now it will be a full fledged equipped centre with hostel facility for both boys and girls.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Punjab & Sind Bank Zonal Manager Mr Amolak Singh, AGM Mr Ajit Singh Chawla, Retired Zonal Manager Mr Varinderjit Singh Virk, Panchayati Raj Executive Engineer Mr Rajinderpal Bansal, besides several others.
