In a giant leap forward towards strengthening the cooperative institutions of Punjab under the guidance of the Cooperation Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the Markfed has spread its wings and opened a sale counter at Hongkong. Owing to the efforts of the India Food Mart, the sales counter has been opened at famous Indian market ‘Chung King Mansions’ in Kamal Sweet. The counter was inaugurated by the Director Markfed Sandeep Singh Randhawa. During the occasion, Mr. Randhawa said that even though it is a new market for the Markfed but in the coming time no stone would be left unturned in the aggressive marketing of Markfed products.The owners of the India Food Mart Mr. Kuldeep Singh Uppal and Mr. Gurmeet Singh Saggu disclosed that the overwhelming crowd of Punjabi women during the ‘Teej’ festival at the ‘Sarson Da Saag’ stall of markfed as well as at the ‘Makki Di Roti’ stall has proved that the Markfed produced Saag, Dal Makhni, Chatpata Chana, Karri Pakora is the favourite and is a required among the Punjabi population settled here. Not only this, the other products of Markfed such as ‘Sohna Atta’, ‘Sohna Basmati Rice’, ‘Achaar’ and ‘Murabba’ would also be made available at the homes as well as the hotels and restaurants here. 

On the occasion, the Australians and the Chinese people present there also exhibited great interest in the packed products of Markfed and acquired info about these.The Additional Managing Director, Markfed, Mr. Bal Mukand Sharma ascertained the views of the dignitaries present there. On the great demand by the people regarding the Markfed products, Mr. Sharma said that the Markfed has started its special initiatives to ensure the reach of its products to the Punjabis settled in Hongkong and with the opening of the sales counter today, a long pending demand of theirs has been fulfilled.The President, Singh Sabha Sports Club Hongkong Mr. Satpal Singh said that it is a matter of happiness and satisfaction that the top quality products of Markfed would now adorn the kitchens of Punjabis. The owner of Kamal Sweets Dr. Sukhjit Singh today appreciated the talks held with the wholesale and retail traders during the previous 2-3 days and said that the way in which the team of the Markfed Officers is building rapport with the traders is sure to lead towards the further spurt in the popularity of the Markfed products here.

On the occasion, the Chartered Accountant of the traders in Hongkong Mr. Karamjit Singh said that the packed products are a source of elation for the Punjabi women because due to the busy schedules the packed food would not only come in handy for saving the time but also make them savour the delicacies of Punjab while sitting in Hongkong. Representing the Punjabi artists famous Punjabi singer Mr. Gurdeep Singh Sawadi said that it is a wonderful gift bestowed upon the Hongkong based Punjabis.Divulging more, Mr. Bal Mukand Sharma said that earlier also the packed foods were sent abroad but now in a novel beginning under the leadership of the Cooperation Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and the guidance of the Chairman Markfed Mr. Amarjit Singh Samra, Additional Chief Secretary Cooperation Mr. D.P. Reddy and MD Mr. Varun Roojam, it has been decided that the sales counters outside Punjab selling Markfed products would also be opened.Mr. Sharma further added that inside India such a beginning has been made in Vadodara and sooner the sales centres would also be opened in the cities of Maharashtra. He also said that the Punjabi diaspora is settled in large numbers abroad and keeping in view this aspect the Markfed would also open such sales counters in future. The Senior Manager Export Mr. Mandeep Singh Brar while thanking the dignitaries present on the occasion said that the report of the inauguration would be telecast on 18th August, 2018 at 5:30 PM on the Jalandhar Doordarshan channel’s weekly programme of the Markfed ‘Sohna Punjab’.
