Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajiv Verma today started massive plantation drive in the Medical Dispensary at the local PAP Complex, under the ongoing ‘Tandarust Punjab’ Mission.Initiating the drive, the Sub Divisional Magistrate underscored the need for planting more and more number of trees to enhance the green cover in district. He said that it was the bounden duty of everybody to make stupendous efforts for protecting the environment. Mr. Verma said that trees play a crucial role by conserving natural resources and improving the environment.Sub Divisional Magistrate said that the sole aim of the drive was to ensure maximum green cover in the district through the planting of trees. Hesaid that ‘Tandarust Punjab’ was a comprehensive mission to preserve and improve the quality of air, water and food in the state, thereby ensuring a good living environment for the citizens of Punjab. Mr. Verma exhorted the staff members of the dispensary and the new recruits of the PAP, that each one of them must plant atleast 20 saplings to enhance green cover in district.On the occasion Revenue Officer Mr. Gurpreet Singh and staff members of the dispensary were also present.
