Minster for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today formally handed over  final Detailed project Report (DPR) for Comprehensive Flood Management Program of River Jhelum & its Tributaries –Phase-II to the M/S WAPCOS Ltd.Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mir Zahoor Ahmad was also present in the meeting. Since the devastating floods of 2014, the government has been working on formulation of a mega project for flood management programme of River Jhelum and its tributaries. After extensive technical and physical work by prominent professionals and consultants engaged by the government for the purpose, it was a dream come true today when final DPR for Phase-II of the project was finalized and handed over to the concerned for implementation.It is pertinent to mention here that the Phase-I of the project has already been completed showing better results.

The State Government under the able patronship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been striving hard from three day one for the development and prosperity of all the three regions of the State with financial support and guidance of Union Government headed by Prime Minister Narindera Modi.Among others, Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control M. Raju, Chief Engineer FMO, Central Water Commission, New Delhi, Chief Engineer, IBO CWC, Chandigarh,  Director CWPRS, Pune, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir, Director, Monitoring & Appraisal CWC, Jammu, Director, Finance PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control  and Executive Director WAPCOS Ltd were also present.Giving detailed account of Mathematical Model Studies (MMS) through Power Point Presentation, the  Ministers were informed about all the aspects of the MMS case studies conducted by the Central Water & Power Research Station, Pune.  Threadbare discussions were also held on the short-listed cases with regard to the project.
