MLA Vijaypur, Chander Prakash Ganga today chaired a meeting to review arrangements for    the annual mela at Baba Sidh Goriya and Baba Chamliyal shrines. The Mela at Baba Sidh Goriya at village Swankha will be held on June 24 while Mela at Baba Chamliyal shrine situated near International border at Ramgarh sector will be held on June 28.The MLA directed the functionaries of R&B to ensure the blacktopping of all major roads connecting the shrines well before commencing of these famous melas. He directed for repair and improvement works for the convenience of the devotees visiting the twin shrines. PHE Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply with provision for additional water tankers.Ganga also instructed PDD to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to un-interrupted power supply at the venue throughout the Mela days.Stressing on proper sanitation at both the shrines, Ganga sought installation of adequate number of dustbins at the venues in view the huge rush of devotees visiting the shrines during this annual event.

Ganga asked different departments to establish stalls of their respective departments to aware the visiting devotees regarding the schemes and welfare programmes.The MLA stressed on synergized efforts by the concerned departments    to ensure that the requisite arrangements are put in place on time for smooth conduct of the Mela.Ganga also reviewed the security arrangements and preparedness related to Fire and Emergency Services, traffic regulation etc. A committee was also constituted for keeping check on quality and rates of eatables. The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Samba S Rajinder Singh Tara, SSP Samba, Anil Magotra, SP Traffic Rural Jammu, ADC, Deputy Director Tourism, SDM Vijaypur, ACD, DPO, Tehsildar Ramgarh, BDO, Xens of PWD, PDD and PHE, Committee members and general public also attended the meeting.
