The Shiromani Akali Dal expressed complete dissatisfaction over the election arrangements made by the Election Commission of India and said that if present situation is allowed to go, then no body can stop the Congress party from rigging of booths tomorrow. In a statement released to the press from the party head office in Chandigarh the party’s Spokesman and Senior Vice President Dr Daljit Singh Cheema alleged that Police is hand in glove with the ruling Congress party. He informed the CEO Punjab about the grave ground realities over phone and told him that district administration-has totally surrendered itself to the ruling party pressure. All senior SAD-BJP leaders of the area are being harassed and many of them have received threatening calls.Liquor is being distributed openly and Congress party leaders are openly purchasing votes in the whole constituency.

A truck load of liquor illegally taken out of distillery and which was meant for Shahkot was intercepted by the people and handed over to the police but instead of quick investigation to reveal the truth the police allowed the driver to flee.Senior Congress leaders are still camping in the constituency and supervising the purchase of votes and liquor distribution. The worst thing is that the Election machinery is totally non responsive. The TV channels have clearly demonstrated live that there is no security checking at all entry points but still the Commission has not taken it seriously. We are receiving lip sympathy only which is not sufficient to save democracy.Dr Cheema urged the ECI to take immediate drastic measures to instil a sense of confidence among the voters without further delay. If present situation is allowed, then worst will happen tomorrow.
