Jammu Kashmir Director General of Police SP Vaid Tuesday said that police have filed an FIR against Kathua lawyers for obstructing Crime Branch from filing charge sheet against rape and murder accused with regard to Asifa case.Pertinently, lawyers from Kathua yesterday tried to prevent police from entering into the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate when they arrived there to file a charge sheet against the 8 accused involved in the rape and murder of 8 year old Bakarwal girl Asifa.Majority of the political leaders as well as civil society members vehemently criticized the role of these lawyers while former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah termed it as shameful act.Even ruling People’s Democratic Party condemned the act of Kathua lawyers.While talking to news agency CNS, Jammu Kashmir police chief SP Vaid said that police have filed a case against those lawyers who tried to prevent Crime Branch from performing their duties.Ironically, Jammu Bar Association has called for a Jammu Bandh on Wednesday against the handling of Asifa rape and murder case by Crime Branch. They are demanding that case should be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation. (CNS)
