District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today visited various sites identified for car parking and shifting of government offices in Jawahar Nagar under a major decongestion plan.The DDC along with a team of officers including Assistant Commissioner Revenue Abdul Qayoom Mir and ARTO Jugal Kishore, inspected under construction building for shifting of Assistant Regional Transport Office, JKEDI, Information and Traffic Police. He took stock of ongoing work and directed the concerned to expedite the work besides speedy fencing of the complex.Pertinently, ARTO’s Office is presently located in a narrow street alongside main road which is main cause of traffic congestion in the area.
DDC also inspected work on community hall and asked the officers of concerned department for timely completion of the building so that it can be opened for public use. He also visited Girls Higher Secondary School Jawahar Nagar and assessed the infrastructural needs of the school. He directed for immediate repair of hand pump, the only source of water in the school and fencing of left out part of the school land.Later, he visited the identified site for car parking which will accommodate more than 100 vehicles and provide relief to the people from heavy traffic strangulation due to road side parking.
