The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) took out a rally in the national capital on Wednesday in solidarity with a woman from Narela who was beaten up by members of a local mafia after she helped bust an illicit liquor racket in the area.DCW chief Swati Maliwal and other members of the Commission along with Praveen, the victim, started their march from Raj Ghat and ended it in Narela. The victim was released from the hospital earlier in the day."We are launching war against liquor and drugs mafia in Delhi and the Commission will not stop until this illegal trade is put to an end. The Commission will ensure end to this illegal trade," Maliwal said during the rally."The men who attacked Praveen are yet to be arrested and should be immediately arrested. This huge liquor racket can't exist without active support of police and I appeal to the LG to take steps to curb the racket," she added.Last week, the DCW had conducted an inspection in Narela regarding sale of illicit liquor and drugs from certain houses in the area. According to the Commission, over 300 bottles of liquor were confiscated from a house.
