Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Barkat Ali Lone Nizami today convened a meeting of district officers to review the arrangements being put in place by the District Administration for the ensuing winter season.Issues with regard to winter preparedness, stock and supply position of food grains and other essential commodities, key construction materials besides advance measures for snow clearance operations were discussed threadbare.The meeting was informed that requisite manpower and machinery have been kept in full readiness to meet any eventuality during winter months. It was also given out that a joint control room at district headquarter is being established to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and action mechanism besides snow clearance machines have been kept ready for snow clearance operations at the district headquarters as well as rural areas.
The officers of FCS&CA Department informed the meeting that 100 percent quota of ration in favour of the consumers of 82 sale centres in snow-bound areas has been provided in advance up to March 2018 while as winter ration has been dumped in full for the consumers of surrounding areas. It was given out that sufficient stocking of LPG gas and kerosene oil has also been ensured. It was also given out that Mechanical Engineering Department has 11 snow clearance machines in full readiness to carry out snow clearance operations. Nizami impressed upon the FCS&CA, PHE, PDD and other authorities for creating a reliable system to ensure satisfactory and uninterrupted services so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He sought close coordination among different Departments for snow clearance operations and prompt response to meet out any emergency during the winter months.Executive Engineers of various engineering wings and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
