The indictment of a nephew of former union Railway Minister, and sitting Congress MP from Chandigarh, Pawan Kumar Bansal in rail gate scam by a special court has nailed Bansal once for all.The congress move of allotting ticket to Bansal only shows the hypocrisy of the party whose leaders are neck deep involved in various scams and other criminal cases, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), State President, Sanjay Tandon. Talking about the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections, Tandon said that there is a perceptible Narendra Modi wave in the country and against corruption. “The people of Chandigarh should throw such a corrupt congress leaders like Bansal out and teach him a lesson in ensuing elections. On one side the congress make promises to end the corruption and on the other side the party exert pressure save themselves from being charge-sheeted. This is the mockery of the system. The Congress has been using CBI to implicate Opposition leaders and to save its own men. There was no logic in making Pawan Bansal as prosecution witness in this case when it was clear that Vijay Singla could not have assured the coveted post without the tacit understanding with the minister”, he added.

The present case pertains to the appointment of member technical in Railway Board for which Pawan Bansal’s nephew, Vijay Singla had taken a bribe of Rs 10 crore. The CBI had arrested the accused for their alleged roles in the scandal, in which a deal of Rs. 10 crore was finalised for arranging one of the top positions in the Railway Board for Mahesh Kumar, then the member (staff) in the board. Bansal’s nephew Singla was the main person whose influence was to be used for the appointment of Mahesh Kumar, the CBI said.It was after registration of the case by the CBI that Pawan Kumar Bnasal was forced to resign from the post of Union Railways Minister bringing disrepute to the country as a whole and Chandigarh city and its people in particular, said Tandon.

The Central Bureau of Investigation( CBI) has found ample evidence and the court has now charged his nephew, Vijay Singla with graft under sections 120B of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.Sanjay Tandon said that BJP stands for transparency, honesty and probity in public life coupled with development. He said that Chandigarh has the second highest literacy rate in the country and its people would show door to corrupt leaders like Pawan Kumar Bansal.
