Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today said that Government is committed to the development of far-flung areas of the State in terms of infrastructure development and ensuring basic facilities.The Chairman LC stated this during his extensive tour to Stakpa, Umba, Sangrah and adjoining villages in the Kargil district.Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Muhammad Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSP Tsering Gyalpo, SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, ACD Kargil, Kacho Turab Shah besides other senior officers of concerned Departments accompanied the Chairman.Addressing a series of public meetings, Haji Anayat Ali said that Government is keen to eradicate poverty and backwardness from the far-off areas and focused attention is being given to unattended areas in this regard. He said that priority of the Government is to provide basic amenities to the people besides improving the existing infrastructure in rural and hilly areas while as particular attention is being given to develop education, power, health and ensuring better mobile and road connectivity.

The Chairman said that the present government is taking a slew of measures to provide satisfactory facilities to the people of Kargil district and a number of road connectivity and other projects under State Share and CRF are going on in full swing. He said that to provide facilities of ration to the people at their doorsteps 149 ration stores have been sanctioned in the district. He said that 157 mobile towers have been sanctioned that would go a long way in resolving connectivity problems.Haji Anayat Ali said that theatre section at CHC Sankoo shall be made functional soon to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the area. He said that concrete measures would be taken to improve healthcare facilities in the far off villages by making available well trained and specialist doctors and latest diagnostic and treatment equipments especially in remote health institutions.The Chairman called upon the public representatives and the local people to work unitedly towards the progress and prosperity of the district. He also exhorted upon the officers that benefits of various development and welfare schemes should reach to the grassroots. He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works besides the use of quality material. He said no stone would be left unturned in redressing genuine grievances of the people.

The Chairman also announced Rs 6.00 lakh out of his CDF for the launching of 3 bridges in Stakpa Umba area.Meanwhile, various public deputations met the Chairman about their grievances and demands which included upgradation  of health centers and schools, improvement and blacktopping of roads,  repair of irrigation khuls, establishment of weaving and tailoring centers for women folk, uninterrupted power supply, potable water, road connectivity, construction of crate bunds, teaching staff, and better medicare facilities.The deputationists also demanded provision of power supply to Stakpa Umba area from Chutak Hydel Project, installation of mobile towers, construction of footbridges, early commissioning of the Mini Hydel project Sangrah and start of work on Mini Hydel Project Mizad, early release of payments on account of land and tree compensation and other related issues.The Chairman assured the deputations that all their genuine demands would be addressed at the earliest. He also issued on spot instructions to the concerned for early disposal of the issues brought up in the public meetings. Later, Haji Anayat Ali inspected the 1.5 MW Sangrah Mini Hydel Project and exhorted upon the concerned officers and engineers to complete the remaining works on the project within the stipulated time frame.
