DEO Rajouri launches Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision drive

District Election Authority Rajouri has initiated the process for revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2017 for inclusion of new votes, deletion, corrections and transpositions in all the Panchayats and Panch Halqas for forthcoming Panchayat elections.District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary launched the process for revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls 2017 in a meeting attended by  Dy DEO Shrikant Suse, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, SDMs Khalid Hussain, Gopal Singh and Kartar Singh, DPO Naresh Kumar, Tehsildars, BDOs, Electoral Registration Officers and AEROs. More than 1000 officials have been deployed on revision duty across the district.District Administration has issued directions for holding special camps for Panchayat voters on 08 and 11 October followed by joint camps for Panchayat and ongoing SSR-2018 on 14 and 21 October providing an opportunity for enrolment of new voters, deletion of duplicates,  transposition and corrections. It was revealed that the Panchayat voter lists will be displayed at respective Panchayat Ghars and polling stations for public information and to receive claims and objections.

AEROs and EROs have been directed not to initiate any transposition of voters unless supported by proper documentary evidence, report from concerned revenue officer and proper notification issued. Furthermore action will be initiated against persons having dual votes in Municipal Wards and Panchayat wards as the same is a criminal offence. Voters having dual voters in Rural and Urban areas have been advised to get their vote(s) deleted from one place.DC Dr Shahid has directed the officers to convene meeting with all political parties at District, Sub-Division and Block level for their active participation and ensuring a pure and authentic electoral roll. More than 800 BLOs, VLWs, and GRS are undergoing training for the Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision 2017 with reference to January 1, 2017 as qualifying date. The draft publication will be made on 7th October 2017 which will be followed by display of lists at notified places.In order to ensure smooth enrollment and redressal of public complaints as well as coordination, Election Cells have been established in the office of Deputy Commissioner, ACD, DPO, 16 BDOs and 03 Tehsildars. People have been advised to fill requisite forms 2A (inclusion), 2B (Correction), 2C (Deletion) and 2D (Transposition). De-duplication software will be used to identify people having double votes for initiation of necessary action.
