Veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini on Monday rued the lack of proper infrastructure for performing arts and said she had sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention in the matter."We get huge shows but only a thousand people can be accommodated. We should have at least 4,000 to 5,000 people at one time to watch the show. Its difficult to perform again and again. Its not a daily show," Hema said here during the announcement of Synergy, Indo-Georgian Dance Fusion programme."I have already told Modi ji to stress more on the cultural domain - special theatres and auditoriums for artistes in metro cities should be built," she said.Lamenting on the dearth of spaces for ensemble performances, she said it's a "huge drawback.""India doesn't have proper infrastructure for performing arts. There used to be solo dances earlier and small auditoriums could suffice but now the trend is of big groups and ensembles. For that we do not have the required infrastructure. This is a huge drawback. Wherever I am going, I am facing problems," she added.Synergy is presented in Kolkata by Indo Occidental SymbiosisAand Calcutta Club along with Hema Malini's Jaya Smriti.
