The Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today held a meeting here with officials of the Department to bring the new reforms for the development of Technical Education and also reviewed the progress of the Punjab Skill Development Mission.On this occasion, Mr. Channi asked the department officials to immediately send instructions to every institution attached with the technical education department and board that the CCTV cameras and biometric attendance system should be installed in every technical education institute, polytechnic college and industrial training institute before the next academic session. He said that the Punjab Government would give the benefit of SC scholarships to only those institutions which would be connected with the Technical Education Department through this online system.Mr. Channi made it clear that CCTV cameras and Bio-metric attendance systems would be implemented in both government and private organizations. He said that with the introduction of this system, there would be a check on forged admissions and CCTV cameras would be helpful in keeping a check on copying during examinations. He said that the Punjab Government has decided to set up such a structure with a motive to elevate the education standards.

Reviewing the functioning of Skill Development Mission Program in the state, Mr. Channi asked the concerned officers to prepare the Vision document for 2018. He further asked the officials to initiate action for making technical education department a partner in skill development training.He said that the Punjab Government has chalked out a program to impart free training to the youth of the state in the skill development centers and more partners should be invited for imparting skill development training. He said that youth placement should be ensured once they complete their training at skill development centers.On this occasion Mr. G. Vajralingam Additional Chief Secretary Technical Education, Mr. Chander Gaind Secretary Technical Education Board, Mr. Parveen Thind Director Technical Education, Mr. Mohanbir Singh, Mrs. Daljeet Kaur, MP Singh (all Additional Directors), Damanpreet Kaur DDA and Additional Director of Skill Development Mission Mr. Ashok Prashar was also present.
