Minister distributes cash prizes to winner of Special Olympics

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil honoured and distributed cash prizes to the medal-winning players from Himachal Pradesh in the Special Olympic Games organised in Austria during March 2017 in a function orgainsed here today.  They won 21 medals in all in these games including 8 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze.Speaking on the occasion, he said it is a matter of proud that special players of the state won 21 medals. He distributed cash prize of Rs. 75 thousands each to Gold medal winners, Rs, 50 thousands to silver medal winners and Rs. 25 thousands to Bronze medal winners besides certificates of  appreciation. He also gave away Rs. 10,000 and certificates to other participating players.The Minister said the state government is committee for welfare of the specially able people and various schemes and programmes are being implemented to benefit them. The specially able children are being provided facility of free education from first class to graduate level and also in vocational courses.The medal winners include Sanjay Kumar, Pooja, Usha, Sanjay Kumar, Shivanjli, Rajesh, Thakur Dass, Jyoti Bala, Kunal, Shubham, Shikhsa Rani, Indu, Nazma, Deepak, Jaswinder and Kanchan who belongs to different districts of the state.
