Chief  Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh  announced a sum of Rs. 30 lakh for overall fencing of police ground Junga besides a sum of Rs 10 lakh for furnishing newly constructed administrative block of 1st battalion of  HP Armed Police (HPAP), Junga, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister today. The new block has been completed with an outlay of Rs 2.81 crore.While congratulating the 183 new passed out recruits, Chief Minister said that they should feel proud to be a part of the state police family. I hope that the tough training will help them to be  a true professional police personnel and it will encourage them to come forward to accept the challenges of policing and meet the responsibilities, said the Chief Minister.The state government has sanctioned 1073 posts of constables and the recruitment process was underway besides the recruitment of sub inspectors had been completed and they were under training at Daroh. He said that the armed police training courses were being held at Junga since its set up in 1971 and Daroh Police Trainiing College was set up later and as of today, besides HPAP, Junga,  there were six reserve battalions in the state.In his address, Chief Minister acknowledged the working challenges of the Himachal Pradesh Police. He said that police officers need to be more sensitive to the security needs of women and protect the poor and weaker section of the society. He advised the passing out cadets to be more practical and professional for maintaining law & order and exercising patience while dealing with the people.Though there remains a gap or say lapse sometimes, despite good governance and policing but it becomes our duty to deal with endurance and effectiveness and bring criminals to book, said the Chief Minister. 

Himachal Pradesh is a peaceful state and hardly there were any crimes except few as compared to other states. The percentage of crime was very low of the state. Our police is competent enough to maintain law and order and deal with all sort of crimes, he said, adding that police  have to uphold the sanctity of the law and help the poor and the needy.He also directed to maintain the old unoccupied buildings and property in periphery of the police ground Junga. He said that a sum of Rs 40 crore was being spent on construction of residential and non-residential buildings of police in this fiscal besides a sum of Rs 5.42 crore has been sanctioned for modernisation of Police infrastructure.Earlier, the Chief Minister  took salute from impressive march past presented by the participants. Constable Ajay Sharma led the parade besides constable Anil Kumar as his co-partner.The Chief Minister also distributed the prizes to the recruits who excelled themselves in various fields while undergoing training.An impressive commando skill show, PT display also formed part of the function besides cultural programme and other acrobatics display. Director General of Police, Somesh Goyal in his welcome address said that the nine months long and  hard training, the recruits  acquired the skill in Law, Police science, criminology, Computer application, cyber crime and human rights with emphasis on professionalism, discipline and good behaviour. They also underwent  stress management courses besides Yoga classes for physical and mental health, he added.Local MLA  Anirudh Singh, IG, Armed Police Training Himanshu Mishra, Commandant, Ist battalion APT Junga, Padam Chand, and other senior Officers of Himachal Pradesh Police were also present on the occasion amongst others.
