A joint SAD-BJP delegation led by SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia today presented the victims of the Bagga village atrocity in Majitha before the National Scheduled Caste Commission here and demanded immediate registration of criminal case and arrest of Congress leader SukhjinderRaj Lalli and other accused in the crime besides dismissal of the Station House Officer (SHO) who had kept the dalit victim in illegal confinement.Presenting the victims – Kashmir Singh and his family members before the Commission, Mr Majithia narrated the tale of woe of the family and demanded immediate action in the matter. He stressed that the police had not registered a case despite the first incident of stripping and thrashing of Kashmir Sing happening on April 17 and the second of attack on the family occurring on April 29. Women public representatives accompanying Mr Majithia, including Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh, Seema Kumari and Sukhjit Kaur Sahi highlighted that the modesty of Kashmir’s wife and daughter had also been outraged by the Congressmen when they attacked the family on April 29 and that required cases in this regard should also be registered.

SC Commission Director Raj Kumar Chenana gave a patient hearing to the SAD-BJP delegation and assured immediate action in the matter. He assured the delegation that appropriate cases would be registered against the accused in the case. He also assured the delegation that he would visit Bagga village himself along with a team from the Commission. The Director also gave a separate hearing to the victims and held a meeting with concerned police officials to know why no action had been taken in the matter till now.In a separate development, Mr Majithia also met State Police chief Suresh Arora and highlighted how a public meeting organized by ADGP Law and Order Rohit Chaudhary in Majitha recently had been hijacked by criminals and known history sheeters. He said it was unfortunate that undesirable elements had been offered front row seats at the meeting. Mr Majithia said this had sent a wrong message to the public who wanted justice in the atrocity case of Bagga village in which a Congress leader had stripped and thrashed a dalit and posted a picture of the same on facebook along with derogatory language. While handing over photographic and video proof of the criminals who attended the meeting called by the ADGP in Majithia including Kunan Singh Abdal (convicted under section 302 for attacking a former DA during Congress rule), Ranjit Singh (dismissed constable also facing case under section 302), Balwinder Singh Pinder, Ramandeep and Baba Jhanna, all of whom are facing cases including Jhanna of abducting a girl who has not been traced till now, Mr Majithia said this proved the public meeting had been completely hijacked by the Congress as all the known criminals were supporters of Sukhjinder Raj Lalli.

Mr Majithia also handed over video proof of police official Ramandeep who tried to physically stop his cavalcade with the intention of causing trouble. He also handed over a letter written by Sukhjinder Lalli demanding that ASI Avtar Singh be posted with him as a gunman before the assembly elections. He said the same Avtar Singh had been posted as SHO of Mattewal against police rules which clearly stipulated that an ASI could not head a police station. The Akali leader said Avtar Singh had due to his proximity with the Congress and Sukhjinder Lalli failed to react to the complaint by Kashmir’s family and had even informed the accused of the same when the complaint was lodged through the 181 helpline. Demanding immediate dismissal of the ASI for dereliction of duty, he said the ASI had also kept the family in illegal confinement.DGP Suresh Arora assured to take action in the case. He said departmental inquiry would be opened against all police officials accused of lapses. He assured the delegation that no Congress worker or police official will be allowed to take law in their own hand. He also asked the delegation members to bring any such incident to his notice, saying clear instructions had been issued to district police officials to work on merit in all cases.Mr Majithia also addressed a press conference along with BJP representatives at the SAD headquarters here. He warned the Congress and Sukhjinder Lalli not to dare touch a dalit lady, saying “we will come out on the streets in support of our dalit brethren”. He said though assurances had been given that action would be taken in this case, the SAD would not hesitate to start a state wide agitation in case the victim’s family was denied justice
