Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, today paid visit to J&K’s first Solid & Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) Centre set up at Chak Lala near Sehora, in tehsil Bishnah of district Jammu.During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took review of the whole project and interacted with the project staff and experts engaged on the task. In Jammu district, two tehsils Bishnah and Akhnoor have been selected to set up first projects of this kind in the State.Inspecting the working of plant, the DC was told that the rikshaws carry town’s waste material which is segregated in different containers for re-cycling purpose. This waste material is be put to use after recycling.While interacting with the local people, the DC said that this pilot project is first of its type in the State and they should cooperate with the staff to make it successful and also avail benefits of it. He lauded the efforts of resource person and expert Dr Zafar Iqbal, BDO Bishnah Nazia Choudhary, for their hard work for making this project successful.Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, also planted a medicinal plant in the complex on the occasion. Thereafter, Deputy Commissioner launched anti-Polythene drive under Swachh Bharat Mission, distributed Jute bags among the Children and advised them to insist their parents to use Jute bags instead of polythene bags for carrying Vegetables and other material so as to keep the surrounding neat and clean.The DDC also took part in the cleanliness drive in the village alongwith SDM South, BDO Bishnah organized to spread the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan among the people.
