To discourage use of plastic, the District Development Commissioner, Ramban Mohammad Aijaz today launched “No to Polythene Bags” Campaign here by flagging off an anti –polythene awareness campaign van.Assistant Development Commissioner (ACD), Jhangir Khanday, DPOs, BDOs, officers and officials off RDD and other departments were also present.The anti –polythene awareness campaign van would visit to different areas of district and hold camps to aware the people about the hazards of polythene.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that ‘Anti-Polythene Week’ is being organized to make people aware about the nuisance and pollution caused by the use of the non-biodegradable polythene.He noted with concern that water bodies and rivulets of the district that have become the instant polythene dumping sites adding that there is a need to make people aware about its hazard and ask them to stop its use.DDC appealed to the general public to avoid use of polythene Bags and use reusable cloth and Jute bags.
