Czech Republic Ambassador Miloslav Stasek today called on Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Minister for Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Museum, Punjab Government. During the meeting Mr. Phillaur apprised the visiting Czech Ambassador about the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. He described that the Punjab Govt. has paid special attention to rejuvenate the historical monuments and tourist place based in Punjab. He mentioned that the state government has set up various monuments commemorating the rich cultural and historical legacy. In this regard the construction of Minar-e-Khalsa at Chappar Chiri and Virasat-e-Khasla at Anandpur Sahib was discussed.
The Minister further apprised the Czech Ambassador about the historical background and religious importance of Sri Harimander Sahib for the Sikh Community. He said that this holy place is the supreme religious and temporal place for the Sikh Community. Tens of thousands Sikhs from across the world thronged at this holy place every year to pay obeisance. Czech Ambassador was excited to share the similarities and scope of tourism industry in both the countries. Mr. Miloslav Stasek said that to further explore the possibilities of augmenting tourism in both the countries a separate delegation from Czech Republic would meet the authorities of Punjab State. Prominent among others who were present during the meeting included Mr. S.S. Channy, Principal Secretary Cultural Affairs and Mr. NPS Randhawa, Director tourism and cultural affairs.
