Vice President Hamid Ansari on Wednesday said that India can reap demographic dividends by rapidly skilling people."If we are able to provide quality skill training to our people, we can make India a human resource powerhouse in the world," Ansari said at the Conference on Skilling India for Global Competitiveness here.At present, 2-3 per cent people in India have undergone training compared to 68 per cent in Britain and 52 per cent in the US, he added. He warned that the country will look at "unprecedented" unemployment rate if it fails in the task of skilling.Ansari said he saw three challenges before the skilling task --challenge of quality, challenge of number, and challenge of perception. He added that the companies should be "convinced to hire skilled force rather than hiring cheap labour".
