Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today demanded a central investigation bureau (CBI) probe into the registration of a fake police case in Khalra police station in Khemkaran assembly segment aimed at shielding two murder accused at the behest of Chief Parliamentary Secretary Virsa Singh Valtoha. In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder said, the five policemen, including the SHO of the Khalra police station, who have been dismissed from the services, have actually been made scapegoats in order to protect Valtoha.Giving details he said, the Khalra police station SHO registered a case against two persons Mohinder Singh son of Ajit Singh and Joga Singh son of Dalip Singh, for allegedly possessing five crates of liquor. Later it turned out that the two persons were accused in a case of multiple murder in which four people were killed while another was injured in Kashipur, in Uttrakhan.Within half an hour of the murder at Kashipur the two were shown to be in possession of five crates of liquor at Khalra, in district Tarn Taran in a clear attempt to protect them. They were shown arrested later. When Uttrakhand Police tracked the accused in Khalra they approached the local police and preliminary investigations led to the actual facts.

Capt Amarinder pointed out, it is too clear that the SHO could not have acted on his own and had clear instructions from the personal assistant of Valtoha who was speaking on behalf of the CPS. He said, the issue cannot be allowed to be hushed up merely with the dismissal of five police cops and the extent of probe needs to be broadened in probe Valtoha’s role. The PCC President maintained that since the police of two states were involved it would be better that the case be probed by the CBI only. He also referred to Valtoha’s terrorist links during terrorism in Punjab and said one cannot expect a fair probe by Punjab police which will be out to protect him.
