In order to review the arrangements for upcoming Digidhan Mela to be observed on March 29, a meeting of officers of various departments was today held at Dak Bunglow, Baramulla, with District Development Commissioner, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash, in chair.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joint Director Planning, Lead Bank Officer, representatives of various financial and telecom institutions besides officers from line departments.The DDC stressed upon the officers to coordinate with each other so that the mela is conducted smoothly. He also urged the bank representatives to create awareness among the masses regarding the benefits of cashless transaction. It was informed during the mela that the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Joint Director Planning have been designated as nodal officers of the event.While highlighting the role of various financial institutions in the overall socio-economic development, the DDC said that the mela is being observed across the country as part of the cashless economy initiative.
