Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said Yoga is the best way to keep diseases away and lead a medicine-free life.He said this while addressing the gathering during an awareness programme on “Yoga Protocol for Control of Diabetes” being organized by Ministry of AYUSH for educating the people about the importance of Yoga in prevention and management of Diabetes at Kunjwani Jammu.While addressing the gathering, the Speaker said the seed of Yoga which was nurtured by our Rishis, millions of years ago, is now crossing all boundaries and reaching every corner of the globe with the initiative of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. It is a matter of pride for Indians, that the whole world has adopted Yoga and celebrates it on International Yoga Day, he added.
He further said that Yoga not only keeps body and mind fit but also fills the human soul with positive energy which helps us in achieving our goals. He appealed people to incorporate Yoga in their lives and pave way for a healthy living.Expressing concern over the prevalent use of drugs by youth, the Speaker said drug addiction is eating our society from within and there is a need to involve young generation in Yoga to keep them away from this social evil.Earlier in the day, the Speaker also started the work for laying tiles at Mangal Market near Railway Station, to be executed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at the cost of Rs 10 lakh.Member Parliament, Jugal Kihore Sharma was also present on the occasion.The Speaker also inaugurated a painting exhibition at Kala Kendra Jammu by a young 22 year old female artist, Akshi Babar which featured paintings made from household waste etc.Speaker appreciated her efforts and hoped that other young children also take inspiration from achievement of state youngsters and make the country proud.
