Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said the Mahashivratri festival reminds people of the bonds of brotherhood and harmony between different sections of the society. He called for further consolidating and carrying forward the values of humanism and oneness of the human race.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating and distributing Langar at Mahan Shiv Parvati Amar Mandir, Tawi Bridge here today.Senior BJP leader Mr Yudhvir Sethi, prominent citizens, devotees and people from different walks of life were present on the occasion.Referring to the major initiatives taken for development of Jammu city, the deputy chief minister said Rs 200 crore have been earmarked for construction of prestigious multi-storey parking project at B C Road to ease traffic congestion in the area. “Besides providing parking facility to the people living in the catchment area, two similar parking projects are also underway at Super Bazaar and Panjtirthi,” he said and added that Rs 1 crore has been invested for the renovation of Ranbir Higher Secondary School to boost the education sector.

“Work is also underway on the prestigious Tawi River Front Development Project, besides, the Maharaja Hari Singh Park which would be having the requisite recreational facilities like reading room, book shop and other related facilities”, the deputy chief minister said and added besides in tourism sector Rs 280 crore have already been allocated to promote the tourism in the region which also includes  Rs 150 crore project for cable car on PPP mode at Patnitop and Rs 60 crore for Jammu Cable Car project.“Provision of light and sound show in the historic Bahu Fort and other related things are also coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.  Renovation of the historic Mubarak Mandi project which would also come up as one of the major tourist attractions in the Jammu city is also underway," Dr Singh added.Mr Yudhvir Sethi also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements registered by the government in various fields and urged the people to play participatory role in day to day governance.
