Punjab Government has revised the minimum rates of wages in the state. These revised rates would come into force with effect from 1st September 2012. This was disclosed here by Mr Surjit Kumar Jayani, Forest and Labour Minister Punjab.The Minister further said that the minimum wages of unskilled worker would be Rs.5200 now. Semi skilled worker now get Rs. 5980, skilled worker Rs. 6877, highly skilled 7909, staff category A Rs. 10370, Staff category B Rs. 8700, Staff category C Rs. 7200, staff category D Rs. 6000.Earlier minimum wages of unskilled worker was Rs. 4568, semi-skilled worker Rs. 4913, skilled worker Rs. 5297 and highly skilled worker Rs 5743. These wages are for all employment except employment sports goods, industry, employment in tanneries and leather manufactures, employment in brick kiln industry employment and garments manufacturers.Minimum wages of staff categories from A to D mentioned above shall be applicable only to scheduled employments under the Govt. of Punjab, local authority and the boards, corporations or any agency under the control of the Government of Punjab in respect of the staff employed through outsourcing or employed. Casually or on daily wages.
