Stating that youth in Kashmir Valley are picking up guns as government has miserably failed to create employment opportunities, Congress legislator from Banihal constituency Vikar Rasool on Thursday said majority of the gunmen in Valley are highly qualified.Rasool was speaking during discussion on demands for grants of Finance Department."Government should think why educated youth choose the other path. This is because of unemployment in the state," he said.Referring to killing of Burhan Wani, he said: "He was also educated. He was working on social networking websites. He was an engineer but preferred to pick up gun," he said.He alleged that there was nexus in the process of giving labor charges to the laborers by the government wherein agents play fraudulent tactics in to swindle the money.“Agents are making labor cards and swindle money given by government to the laborers," he said.He said that the government should take measures to give employment opportunities to local youth in mega projects like Railways, Highways and Power. "Government should employ local educated youth instead of hiring people from Himachal Pradesh and other states," he said. (CNS)
