Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar has felicitated Professor Ghulam Jeelani Mufti, globally acclaimed Hematological Oncologist for being conferred with the honor of the ‘Officer of the Order of the British Empire’ by the Government of United Kingdom.In his felicitation message, Mr Akhtar said that Prof Mufti’s unparalleled achievement has once again proved the fact that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are blessed with huge talent and given the right opportunity and environment, they can exhibit their intellect anywhere in the world.Pertinent to mention that Prof Mufti is a son of the soil who has done pioneering research on Myelodysplastic Syndrome - immune gene therapy for leukemia and bone marrow transplantation for myeloid malignancies.Presently working as Head of the Department of Hematological Medicine at King's College London, Prof Mufti’s work has been recognized by the British Government and one of the highest civilian honors of United Kingdom has been conferred on him for his pioneering work in the field of medicine.
