A meeting of the Committee on Government Assurances of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was convened here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Vikar Rasool Wani to examine the action taken report on the Government Assurances of Power Development Department (PDD).Legislators Javaid Hassan Beigh, Dina Nath Bhagat, Delden Namgail, Devinder Kumar Manyal, Kamal Verma, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Dr. Gagan Bhagat attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the Department more vibrant.The Committee discussed various Government Assurances given by the PDD on the floor of the house from time to time.The Committee asked the PDD to ensure that all the un-electrified villages and hamlets are covered under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY).

The Committee also desired that various ongoing projects taken by Power Development Corporation (PDC) on river Chenab be completed in stipulated time frame.The Committee also highlighted various issues of their constituencies besides ongoing developmental activities including providing proper infrastructure like installation of polls, conductors, replacement of old wires and transformers well in time.Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta briefed the committee about Government Assurances besides issues raised by the members.Among others, Managing Director, SPDC Shah Faisal, senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
