Scores of Anganwadi workers and supervisors on Tuesday staged protest at Kupwara against government for ‘failing to implement its order on ground’.The protesters were chanting slogans against the government and were demanding justice.According to the protesters, Anganwadi workers and supervisors were deputed for examination duties by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Kumar Rajiv Ranjhan in an order. However, the authorities in examination centres didn’t enter them to peruse their duties by saying that there is no such order by the higher ups.“Despite DC deputed us for exam duties, the authorities at the same time denied us to entre in the exam centres. DC has failed to implement his order on ground thereby leaving scores of Anganwadi workers and supervisors to suffer,” they said. They said that if the order was revoked by the higher ups then they should have at least informed them in this regard. “With no information of revocation of such order, the government has played with their credibility,” they said.“We were ashamed when authorities asked us to leave the examination centres,” they said. They later asked Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar to look into the matter. Despite repeated attempts, DC Kupwara, Kumar Rajiv Ranjhan could not be contacted for the comments. (KNS)
