The protests against government announcement to conduct the 10th and 12th class examinations from this month across Kashmir continued on Thursday with groups taking to streets in Srinagar.A group of students including girls staged protest in Old Barzulla area of Srinagar and chanted anti-government slogans. With one eye blind-folded, the students expressed solidarity with those who were maimed and blinded by the forces from past 90 days. The students were holding placards displaying ‘boycott exams’, ‘no exams until Kashmir issue is resolve’ and ‘blood and ink can’t flow together’.The protesting students told KNS that the examination requires free and peaceful environment but unfortunately, every day dozens of people are being maimed while more than 90 have been killed during the current uprising in the Valley. “How is possible for the students to appear in the exams in such kind of situation,” they asked.

They said that their future is uncertain and everyone today in Kashmir, including students, is surrounded by fear on all directions. “Despite forces are torturing Kashmiris, the government is asking us to appear in exams. It is a mere political stunt in which the government is putting the career of students at stake to give the sense of normalcy in Kashmir,” they said.

Protesters said that “Most of the students have been maimed and blinded by the forces. How is it possible for them to appear in the exams? With forces action, the students will never see the world again and especially can’t sit in exams. What is the government’s stand on that? Will they return their eyesight?”The students asked the government to resolve the long-pending Kashmir issue so that the students could feel a sigh of relief and can get education in a peaceful environment.Meanwhile, the protesting students later dispersed peacefully.
