Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Daljit Singh Chib, conducted an extensive tour of the Arnia and adjoining areas to assess the progress of paddy harvesting in these areas.The Vice Chairman, who was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu R. L. Bhagat and progressive farmers of the area, expressed satisfaction over the use of modern methods of harvesting in the area.The Vice Chairman visited the fields of Rajinder Sharma, one of the progressive farmers from Mohan Pur, Arnia, who set an example by taking four crops in a year thus achieving another milestone by producing highest paddy yield of 65 quintals per hectare by using a hybrid variety of paddy.While interacting with the farmers, the Vice Chairman said that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy has been fixed by Government of India at Rs.1510 per quintal and their produce will be saved from distress sale.The Vice Chairman assured the farmers that possibilities will be explored to establish more procurement Centers in all the districts of Jammu province. He advised them to sell their produce in nearby procurement centre so that they are not exploited at the hands of private millers and other brokers.
