Claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy with respect to Pakistan was in "complete disarray", the Congress on Friday sought accountability for Pathankot and Uri terror attacks and Line of Control ceasefire violations."The Modi government's Pakistan policy is based on wholesale confusion rather than pragmatic and decisive cohesion. The Prime Minister is singularly responsible for the complete disarray in our foreign policy," Congress leader Tom Vadakkan told the media here.Referring to repeated ceasefire violations across the Line of Control (LoC) and terror attacks, including at the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot in Punjab and Sunday's attack at an army camp at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress called for accountability for intelligence and operational failures in this respect. "What is the accountability for the intelligence and operational failure which led to the Uri attack? In the last 25 months, 156 soldiers have been martyred fighting terrorist. Over 945 ceasefire violations at the Line of Control have taken place. Who is responsible?" the Congress leader asked.
"Should the Prime Minister not fix responsibility of his National Security Adviser (Ajit Doval) as well as Defence Minister (Manohar Parrikar) who publicly boasted after the Pathankot attack that without his permission no one can enter India," Vadakkan said.Slamming the Modi government's decision to allow a Pakistan probe team to visit the Pathankot air base, the Congress hoped such a "mistake" was not repeated in the Uri probe case."Prior to the 2014 general elections, Modi consistently used to counsel the then Congress-led government to stop writing love letters to Pakistan.... But after becoming the Prime Minister, Modi has indulged in 'saree, shawl and biryani diplomacy' and to impromptu visit Pakistan to attend birthday and marriage parties," the Congress leader said while referring to Modi's surprise visit to Lahore in December 2015.
