Reacting to the acquittal of Jagdish Bhola, SAD leader Maninder ‘Bittu’ Aulakh, Jagjit Chahal and two others in the drug case that has been at the center of the fight against against drugs in Punjab, Jagmeet Singh Brar expressed his disappointment at the court’s verdict. He said “This case has been systematically sabotaged by the Govt of Punjab and Punjab Police under orders from Sukhbir Badal to protect Majithia. Bhola and has repeatedly named him as the drug kingpin and this case has been killed to protect Majithia and other Akali leaders who run the drug syndicate in Punjab”. Brar said "This is a clear case of misuse of power by Sukhbir Badal and shows how deep rooted the drug mafia is in Punjab – every child in Punjab knows Majithia is the kingpin and Bhola has admitted this on record in court many times”.

He also attacked Capt Amarinder Singh and said “When I filed a PIL in 2013 and Amarinder helped Sukhbir to keep the case under his control and opposed a CBI probe on drugs – he said he had full faith in Punjab Police under Sukhbir Badal as home minister, now I dare Captain to face the people of Punjab and tell them how he will solve the drug problem in for weeks when Bhola could not be convicted in five years”.He said “This has proven what I have said for many years – Badal and Captain are protecting each other and this defeat was planned jointly. Sukhbir stopped Police action and Captain blocked CBI – if this is not a partnership in crime then what is?” .He made a scathing attack on Aroosa Alam and said “Captain’s special Pakistani friend’s links with Majithia must be probed. She is also a beneficiary of the drug syndicate and she gets her share paid in Pakistan directly – this is why Captain protected Majithia”.Brar added “I will not let this defeat slow down the fight for a drug free Punjab and I will again approach the courts and this time I am sure a court monitored CBI probe will be granted and this nexus of power, drugs & hawala in which Badals and Captain are equal partners will be exposed and Bikram Majithia will have to face justice”
