Heavy contingent of police and CRPF today foiled AIP’s UN march by using force on the protestors. AIP had planned a march from TRC ground near Zero Bridge to UN Office but heavy contingent of police were deployed around Zero Bridge and near UN Office besides barriers and barbed wire was laid around the road leading to UN Office Sonawar, to prevent the march.Earlier during night hours, large contingent of police had cordoned Er Rasheed’s residence and nobody was allowed to enter or leave the house. However, party workers and scores of protestors broke police cordon and got Er Rasheed and his colleagues out of police cordon. According to a statement issued to KNS, protestors were carrying banners and play-cards raising slogans (‘UN Wake Up - Wake Up’, ‘Plebiscite long live long live’ and ‘State Terrorism down-down’).
However, police interrupted the march and used force to disburse the mob. In the scuffle four persons were injured including one Ghulam Mohammad Dar, who was hit by butt of the riffle and sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital after severe bleeding. Talking to media persons on the occasion, Er Rasheed said that when GoI has blocked all information from Kashmir, United Nations must play its role and save the precious lives in Kashmir besides forcing New Dehli to resolve Kashmir dispute. He said, “India has lost its control over Kashmir and mass uprising has spread in Pir-Panchal, Chenab Valley and other parts of Jammu region, thus the claims of New Dehli that uprising is confined to Valley only stands exposed.”
Er Rasheed said that on one hand GoI is leaving no stone unturned to kill Kashmiris and abuse Pakistan but on the other hand Rajnath Singh has gone with folded hands to seek Pakistan’s help in cooling down the atmosphere, however, Indian state needs to understand that Pakistan’s being party to dispute doesn’t mean that Kashmiris are being run through some sort of remote control and if Indian state has any self-respect, it must agree to the basics of dispute and start dialogue for the resolution of issue. Police arrested Er Rasheed and put him under house-arrest, however, a party spokesman added that once the siege is lifted, party will again take its journey of unfinished march to UN Military Observer’s Group.
