To review the preparedness for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in Kulgam district, a meeting was today held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Showkat Aijaz Bhat here. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned for putting up requisite arrangements well in time for the celebrations of National event. He also constituted a Committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner to oversee the preparedness for the function.The R&B Department has been asked to ensure seating arrangement at the venue. The PHE Department shall arrange the barricading, besides keeping available drinking water tankers.The PDD shall ensure uninterrupted power supply by keeping Gensets in the backup. The departments of Education and Youth Services & Sports shall coordinate with each other to train the students for presenting cultural programmes on the occasion.Chief Medical Officer, Kulgam was instructed to keep ambulance service available on the day on celebration and rehearsal, while as the Fire and Emergency Department shall keep fire tenders available at the venue. The Municipal officer was asked for ensuring proper cleanliness and sanitation in the municipal areas.
