With an aim to provide world class education facilities to area youth, Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal today laid the foundation stone of “Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh & Bhai Darbara Singh Khalsa Nursing College” at Jarg village of the district today. After the starting of Baba Maharaj Singh Government ITI in Malaud, this would be the second major educational institution that has been set up in Payal constituency with the efforts of Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal.This Nursing College has been dedicated to the memory of Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh and his son Shaheed Bhai Darbara Singh, both martyrs of Saka Nankana Sahib.While speaking to media persons on the occasion, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal said that ever since he was elected MLA from Payal constituency, strengthening of educational infrastructure in the area was his main agenda. He said that “Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh & Bhai Darbara Singh Khalsa Nursing College” at Jarg village would be constructed with a cost of Rs 5 crore jointly by the Punjab government and the SGPC.It is pertinent to mention that on August 24 last year, the foundation stone of Baba Maharaj Singh Government ITI in Malaud village was laid by Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal. 

Dr Atwal said that an amount of around Rs 6 crore was spent by the Punjab government on that project, which was readied in record 11 months time. He said that the classes at the Baba Maharaj Singh Government ITI would be formally started soon.Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal stated that Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh & Bhai Darbara Singh Khalsa Nursing College” at Jarg village would be completed within one year. He said that it was a long pending demand of the area residents and thanked Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal and SGPC President Avtar Singh for allocating this nursing college to the area. While speaking on the occasion, Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal stressed on strengthening Primary Education. He said that good quality primary education acts as a strong and stable foundation for a child.Ever since Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal has been elected MLA from Payal constituency, he has ensured the development works worth crores in the area. He said that due to several development works, Payal is now amongst one of the most developed constituencies of the state.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Baba Bhupinder Singh Jarg Rara Sahib Wale, former MLA Mr Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Mr Santa Singh Umedpuri, Baba Jagroop Singh, SGPC members Raghbir Singh Saharanmajra and Harpal Singh Jalla, ex Sarpanch Harvinder Singh Mander, Krishan Singh Nahan, Bikram Singh Cheema, Bibi Inderjit Kaur, besides several others.
