Mandi Gobindgarh , 23 Jul 2016

Addressing a large gathering of Traders and Industry representatives from all over Punjab in Mandi Gobindgarh, Jagmeet Singh Brar, Convenor of Pehlan Punjab - Lok Hit Abhiyan and Ex M.P today stressed on the need to revive industry and commerce in Punjab. He said “Today there are more than 40 Lakh unemployed youth in Punjab who are turning to drugs & crime, and more than 25,000 industrial units have shut down and left because of the policies of the Akali-BJP government – if these units are revived then even at an average of 20/25 jobs per unit a large part of the unemployment problem in Punjab can be solved”He added “Industry has migrated to states like Himachal, Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat because of the corruption and forced partnership demands of the Badal family – Sukhbir and Majithia are always circling like vultures above businessmen in Punjab and take over anything that makes money”He concluded by saying “Punjab needs an 'Industrial Revival Package' to bring the state back from bankruptcy and our farmers need a 'Loan Settlement Ordinance' to save them from suicides – if the Govts of the day are serious about saving Punjab we need to save both Industry and Agriculture – these are the two hands that feed us”The meeting was attended by Dr Harbans Lal, Former Minister, Ex mla Tarsem Jodha, The next meeting of the Advisory council of Pehlan Punjab - Lok Hit Abhiyan is set to be held in Chandigarh on 25th July and in light of the rapidly developing political scenario in Punjab this meeting may add another dimension to the political landscape for 2017.
