Strict curfew and communication clampdown continue on 14thdayFriday in the Kashmir Valley, while one more injured youth succumbed at SKIMS after 10 days of treatment.One more youth, Mushtaq Ahmad son Bashir Ahmad of Chersoo was killed in forces firing today in Chersoo in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Doctors in SMHS told KNS that Ahmad has bullet and pellet injuries and he was brought dead to the hospital. Doctors said that one more youth, Asif Ahmad, of Kakapora, Pulwama, who was admitted in the hospital today has grave head injury and is being treated at the hospital. “He is very critical. His bran has been shattered due to shell or bullet injury. He is undergoing surgery in the hospital,” the doctors told KNS when this report was filed.Another youth from Sopore, Aqib Rather, has been hit by pellets and is also being treated in the hospital.

Another youth Ishfaq Ahmad, who was injured during the clashes at Hiller in Kokernag area of Anantnag district a week ago, succumbed to his injuries at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical sciences here on Thursday night.Ishfaq’s body was taken to his village on Friday morning for burial. With the two more killings, the death in ongoing unrest has mounted to 47.Protests broke out in Sopore from Jamia Masjid to Chankhan locality after Fridaycongregational prayers. Police and CRPF fired teargas shells and pellets on the protesters in which six civilians were injured.“One of the injured, Aqib Rather has been hit by pellets and has been rushed to SMHS. Two others were admitted in Sopore hospital and three others were treated in local dispensaries to avoid identification,” KNS reporter from Sopore said.In view of the protests called by separatists after Friday congregational prayers, authorities have beefed up the security to thwart the protests, particularly in Srinagar's old city and district headquarters.

Authorities did not for the second consecutive day today allow Friday congregational prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in Old City.Police and CRPF had had blocked by pools of concertina and barbed wires leading to the Masjid.Reports of protests were also received from district Shopian, Pulwama, Bandipora and Uri.The unrest continues for the 13th day today after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, by forces in Bumdoora village of Kokernag in Anantnag district on July 8 evening.Mobile phones and internet services remained suspended in the Valley, however, only BSNL Broadband and post-paid services are being allowed to operate. Train services also remained suspended.Top Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday extended the strike call up to July 25. Separatists have appealed the people to continue the shutdown till Monday. (KNS)
