The central and Punjab governments are committed to provide basic amenities like housing, electricity and toilets to every citizen of Punjab. This was disclosed here today by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Food Processing Minister while distributing grant for the repairs of old houses and construction of new housing units under Indira Awaas Yojna. She said that there has been total coordination between the state and the union governments and that there was no dearth of funds for the ongoing developmental activities in the state.   She also said that about 3000 families of district Mansa are being given the financial aid for houses to the tune of Rs. 6 Crores and as a part of this ongoing scheme, the beneficiaries of about 10 villages were given a grant of Rs. 77 Lakh for the repair of old houses and construction of new residential units.Coming down heavily on the opposition parties, Mrs. Badal said that so called leaders belonging to such parties were a product of politics of convenience trying to survive on hollow promises and misleading the people.  She said that the SAD-BJP government in the state has created a history by completely overhauling the state and ensuring an era of development and all round progress. Mrs. Badal observed that the Congress party did nothing for the people of the state in spite of ruling over many years. The facilities like free electricity and water to the farmers, Atta Daal Scheme for the poor, Old age pensions and Shagun Schemes etc were introduced during the SAD-BJP tenure under the able guidance of S. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister Punjab.

Adding further, the Union Minister said that the state government has also ensured the quality health care to its people besides giving them Bhagat Puran Singh Insurance Scheme for the farmers, traders, labour class and also issued cards to the poor people through which they could get free medical treatment up to Rs. 50,000 in the government and private hospitals registered with the government.she said that the Punjab government was also responsive towards the farmers whose crop was damaged due to the attack of white fly especially in the Malwa belt. No other government has compensated the farmers for this loss except SAD-BJP government has adequately compensated the farmers for this loss.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Prem Mittal MLA, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, S.S.P.Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, Chairman Zila Parishad, Mr. Mukhdev Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Mr. Harinder Singh Sran and other local leaders and officers.
