The Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh today convened a meeting with the representatives of various religious organizations and civil society members to review the situation after recent incidents in the Jammu city.The DC urged people to maintain brotherhood, peace and communal amity for which Jammu has always taken lead in all testing times. He asked them to defeat the designs of vested elements and do not pay any heed to rumour mongers.The participants suggested for constitution of committee comprising representatives from all religions who would assist the administration during religious processions/functions. They also demanded deployment of adequate security at all religious places. They asked the security agencies to take strict action against the persons found disrespecting any place of worship.Responding to the issues, the DC said that strict action under law will be taken against the miscreants adding that the only aim of such elements is to disturb the peace and harmony in the society.Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the representatives of the civil society to maintain peace and discourage mob culture which is a threat to life and property of the people.DIG Jammu Ashkoor Ahmad Wani, SSP, ADC besides senior officers from civil administration and police attended the meeting.
