Various deputations from erstwhile Akhnoor Constituency met Sr Vice President JKPCC and Former Minister Congress Sham Lal Sharma and expressed their grievances. The major grievance was regarding acquisition of land by Army under SRO 462 for firing range. They further submitted that their houses are around the proposed during range. The Army Authorities are not permitting us to undertake any construction or renovation of the existing houses. They appealed to the Sr. Vice president JKPCC to take up their issues with appropriate Authorities for allowing them to undertake new construction and also to renovate the existing houses.Sham Lal Sharma gave them a patient hearing and assured them of taking up the issue with the concerned Authorities.

Sharma said that the present BJP-PDP Govt is doing injustice with the people of Jammu region. In a similar case the Tosa Maidan which was used by Army earlier has been denotified and said place is being converted to a tourist spot. The firing range in Jammu region haven't been denotified and as a result the inhabitants of these places are facing numerous problems. The BJP which is in alliance with PDP and used to call themselves so called the champions of Jammu people have completely surrendered before PDP because of lust for power and other benefits.Sharma said that in case the matter is not resolved immediately, the people will go for a big Agitation and the government will be responsible for its consequencies. Those who led the deputation are Sarpanch Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Madan Lal Panch, Om Prakash, Darshan lal, Ajit Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Balkar Singh.
