The District Administration Samba today decided to allow plying of public transport for Sumb and adjoining areas from Main Bus stand Samba.The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by DC Samba, Sheetal Nanda and attended by SSP , Joginder Singh ,ACR Parveen Kumar, ARTO Kuldeep Singh, Dy SP HQ Varinder Singh, SHO Sanjeev Chib and representatives of local Beopar Mandal Samba, Sumb residents, Matador Unions and prominent citizens.
It was decided that the bus and minibus services shall ply from New Bus Stand Samba where civil amenities would be created in due course of time. The transporters were asked to avoid haltage at Samba Main Chowk and stop their vehicles only at designated stop near Ice Factory.The DC directed the ARTO to make sure that transport operators display their route, fare and time table of operation prominently on the vehicles. She called upon residents to file complaint if the transporters are found violating the instructions for necessary administrative action like cancelling of route permit .She also directed EO Municipality to continue anti-encroachment drive to ease congestion on the roads. She reiterated that administration will take all pre-emptive measures to prevent frequent traffic jams and mishaps on the ever busy roads of the district
SSP Samba assured full cooperation from the police department in implementation of the decisions.Later, the DC chaired a meeting to deliberate upon the action plan prepared by the Flood control division Samba. It was informed that a control room has been established in the office of Flood Control Division which shall work round the clock from July till September 2016.The stock position and availability of necessary items like empty cement bags, crates, B.A wires and essential commodities like rice, wheat, L.P.G were also reviewed.The DC directed Executive Engineer Flood control to circulate helpline numbers for awareness of general public. She also directed SDO BSNL to take steps to improve the connectivity and attend the complaints of public and govt departments promptly. She also directed to constitute area specific teams of SDRF, civil defence and home guards to deal with any exigency. The Executive Officers of municipalities were directed to start cleanliness drive of lanes, drains as per the approved roaster.
