Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Housing & Urban Development and Social Welfare, Ms Asiea Naqash today reviewed the working of various schemes launched by government including Laadli Beti, Aasra and Marriage Assistance and ICDS schemes.Chairing a high-level meeting of various implementing departments at civil secretariat here, Naqash stressed for effective implementation of these welfare schemes on grassroots level.The minister was informed that there is requirement of withdrawal of incentives at various stages for the effective implementation of these schemes. She was told that the incentives withdrawn from the Ladli Beti scheme would be directly transferred to the educational institutions where the girls registered under this scheme continue their studies.

Briefing the minister, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Social Welfare said they were waiting for the commissioning of Fund Manager by the finance department which would tie-up with the concerned banks to chart out the details for the implementation of Laadi Beti scheme.The meeting was further informed that for the effective implementation of Aasra scheme, insurance companies and banks weren’t coordinating with each, which was hindering the implementation of this scheme.The Minister directed the concerned officials to implement these schemes at the grass root level by fulfilling all the requisite formalities in a time bound manner so that people are benefitted from these schemes. Regarding the procurement of nutrition under ICDS, she stressed for establishing an effective mechanism for procuring food items from local storage units. The minister directed the concerned officials to rectify the issues of delays in releasing old age pensions and make sure that pensioners get their pension on time.
